Spice and Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf started at the beginning of the month, and now the English dub has begun to stream on Crunchyroll. The first Spice and Wolf anime came out in 2008, but there is good news for dub watchers: the main characters have their roles being reprised! That means that Brina Palencia returns as Holo and J. Michael Tatum returns as Lawrence. Austin Tindle is also back to play Yarei.

Rounding out the rest of the cast for the first dubbed episode, Crunchyroll reports that Emi Lo plays Myuri, Doug Jackson plays Village Chief, and Daniel Van Thomas, Charles Nguyen, and Ben Stegmair are providing additional voices.

The dub is being directed by Michelle Rojas, with Samantha Herek on-board as the producer. The English adaptation is being done by Matthew Greenbaum. Jamal Roberson is handling the job as engineer and Matt Grounds is tasked with being the mixer.

Yen Press publishes the Spice and Wolf light novels in English and gave this description for them:

The Tonneburg woods are in danger…or so says the forest ranger who approaches Holo and Lawrence with a curious request—help convince his lord to not chop down the trees that have always provided for their people. Sadly, Lord Tonneburg hasn’t made this decision lightly. He must banish any heretical rumors that he worships the forest, as well as pay off his family’s debts to the city of Kerube. As their investigation continues, Holo and Lawrence quickly realize the merchant at the center of these issues of faith and trade is none other than Eve Bolan, who claims to need a vast amount of lumber to aid the Twilight Cardinal’s righteous cause. Is she using Col’s title as a cover to make obscene amounts of profit, or is there more to this story than meets the eye…?
