Keanu Reeves Cast as Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Another big name has joined the cast for the Hollywood Sonic the Hedgehog movie series! Keanu Reeves will be voicing Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which is scheduled to play on the big screen this December 20.

Meanwhile, multiple actors are reprising their roles, including Ben Schwartz as Sonic, James Mardsen as Sheriff Tom Wachowski, and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik. Like the previous two Sonic movies, it’s being directed by Jeff Fowler.

As a character, Shadow got his start in the video game Sonic Adventure 2, which premiered in 2001. He was created by Dr. Robotnik’s grandpa, Professor Gerald Robotnik.

The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie came out in 2020. While there were some concerns about the initial look of Sonic, the character got a makeover, and the film ending up doing incredibly well, globally raking in more than $319 million. The success naturally led to a sequel, which came out in 2022 and also did very well. Idris Elba joined the cast as Knuckles the Echidna for Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
