Boogiepop Supernatural Light Novel Series Returns After 4-Year Hiatus

Author Kouhei Kadono and illustrator Kouji Ogata are once again combining their talents for a new book in the Boogiepop series of supernatural light novels according to an official Tweet from Dengeki Bunko, the MediaWorks imprint that publishes the Boogiepop series in Japan.

 

The latest book in the series is entitled Boogiepop wa Norowareru (“Boogiepop Is Cursed”). The exact release date for the novel has not yet been revealed.

The Boogiepop series kicked off in 1998 with Boogiepop and Others, and so far 23 volumes have been published in Japan. An English language version of the series is available from Seven Seas Entertainment, who describe the story of the series as follows:

 

There is an urban legend that children tell one another about a shinigami that can release people from the pain they may be suffering. This “Angel of Death” has a name–Boogiepop. And the legends are true. Boogiepop is real.
