THE FIRST SLAM DUNK Anime Film Scores New Voice Cast in 1st Trailer
The kids of Shohoku High School are going to be sounding a little different in the upcoming THE FIRST SLAM DUNK anime film as the entire team was announced today to be getting an overhaul with some fresh voice talents in a live stream that also unveiled the first trailer for the CG film as well as the people behind the music of the film.
The new voices of the Shohoku High School basketball team are:
- Shugo Nakamura (Gin Gagamaru in BLUELOCK) as Ryota Miyagi
- Jun Kasama (Wilibald Koenig in Saga of Tanya the Evil) as Hisashi Mitsui
- Shinichiro Kamio (Koigakubo in Blue Period) as Kaede Rukawa
- Subaru Kimura (Aoi Todo in JUJUTSU KAISEN) as Hanamichi Sakuragi
- Kenta Miyake (All Might in My Hero Academia) as Takenori Akagi
Japanese garage rock band The Birthday will be performing the opening theme song for THE FIRST SLAM DUNK with 10-FEET performing the ending theme song. 10-FEET’s Takuma and Satoshi Takebe are also composing the music for the anime film.

The original Slam Dunk TV anime aired from 1993 to 1996, with four anime films being spun off from the original anime. You can catch an on-demand replay of the TV anime right here on Crunchyroll, which describes the series as such:
Hanamichi Sakuragi, an entering freshman at Shohoku High, holds a record for being rejected by 50 girls during middle school. Ever since the last girl turned him down for a guy on the basketball team, Sakuragi’s been traumatized by the sport.
THE FIRST SLAM DUNK opens in Japan on December 3 in regular and IMAX theaters, then expanding to Dolby Cinema screens on December 10.
