UniteUp! TV Anime Postponed Beyond Episode 3 Due to COVID-19
Shortly after the Japanese airing of episode three of the UniteUp! TV anime, the official accounts for the anime series revealed that the series will be going on hiatus starting with the next episode. According to the official website, this delay on the fourth episode and on is due to COVID-19 affecting the production schedule. A return date for new episodes was not announced at the time of reporting with recap episodes being aired in place of new episodes.

Shinichiro Ushijima (I want to eat your pancreas) is the director at CloverWorks, with Rino Yamazaki (Akebi’s Sailor Uniform) on series composition and Majiro (Macross Delta) handling character designs and chief animation director. Other staff members include Asami Komatsu (GRANBLUE FANTASY: The Animation) as chief animation director and Yurie Hama (Fate/Grand Order Final Singularity – Grand Temple of Time: Solomon). Hiromi Ishigami (Cutie Honey Universe) as action director, with Yuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia) handling the music.

Crunchyroll is streaming UniteUp! as it airs, describing the series as such:
“I’m going to be an idol…?”
Akira Kiyose is a high school student who loves to sing.
His songs were published to a video sharing site as the internet singer “KIKUNOYU”.
One day, he is scouted by the entertainment agency “sMiLea Production” after they hear his singing voice.
The agency was established to nurture up-and-coming idols by the legendary idol duo “Anela” after they suddenly retired.
Akira forms a group with Banri Naoe and Chihiro Isuzugawa, who were also scouted.
The three online singers are inspired by the idols “LEGIT” and “JAXX/JAXX”, also belonging to the same agency, and aim to make their idol debut with their own thoughts and feelings in mind…!
