Splatoon 3 Inks Through Over 10 Million Copies Sold

 

In less than six months, Splatoon 3 has sold over 10 million copies, making it the fastest-selling Splatoon game ever. Though one of Nintendo’s newest IPs, it’s one of the company’s strongest, especially in Japan where over half of those sales were domestic.

 

Splatoon 3, in total up to December 31, has sold 10.13 million copies, with 6.32 million of those being in Japan and the rest of the world making up the other 3.8 million copies. While this is still less than Splatoon 2 has sold, which was released on the Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2017, it took Splatoon 2 nearly a year to sell close to 10 million copies whereas Splatoon 3 did it in just under a little over three months.

Splatoon 3 was released on the Nintendo Switch on September 8, 2022, and was at the time the biggest three-day launch in Japanese video game history for Nintendo, only usurped by Pokémon Scarlet and Violet a few months later.
