“Pripara” Dorothy VA Azuki Shibuya to Take An Indefinite Break from Voice Acting

 

Voice actor agency 81 Produce announced today that voice actress Azuki Shibuya, best known as Dorothy West in the Pripara anime franchise, will take an indefinite break from voice acting as of December 31, 2023.

 

The statement explained: “While searching for the direction of her future activities, we discussed with Shibuya herself and decided to suspend her voice acting activities. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans and people concerned for their warm support and assistance in her activities for the past 10 years since her debut. We will report to you once we have discussed the future with Shibuya and made a decision.”

 

Shibuya also wrote on her official Instagram: “The main reason is that I have to get braces for my double teeth, but I also want to try many things without regret because I will live only once. I am super healthy both mentally and physically, so please don’t worry about me. I will do my best as a voice actress in the limited time I have before my leave of absence!”

 

Shibuya was a member of the voice actress idol unit i☆Ris, formed by the six winners of the 1st Anison Vocal Audition held by avex and 81 Produce in August 2012. She left the unit on March 31, 2021, but has continued her voice acting activities, including her role as Dorothy. The Pripara franchise is still ongoing with the Idol Land Pripara mobile game/web anime series, but after next year she will no longer participate as a voice actress. As for activities under the name of AZK, she will retire as a DJ, but will continue to produce music and sing as an artist.
