Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has a lot to celebrate with the Kyoto-based gaming company announcing today that the Nintendo Switch, over all versions, has sold over 120 million units around the world, surpassing the lifetime sales of the Game Boy and Game Boy Color as well as Sony’s PlayStation 4.

In Nintendo’s updated investor relations portal site, the company revealed that 122.55 million units of the Nintendo Switch have been sold as of December 31. With only the Nintendo DS and PlayStation 2 ahead of it, the Switch is now the third best-selling gaming console of all time. It was further revealed that 994.30 million software sales have occurred for the platform, making it the best-performing console of all time for the gaming giant.

The percentage of digital sales to physical sales has also increased, with 46.2% of all software sales now digital, up from 40.2% in 2022. This also includes the sales of download cards from retail stores.

The Nintendo Switch went on sale on March 3, 2017, and has so far only released two major revisions, the Switch Lite, a TV-less version of the console, and the OLED, a version with a nicer screen and more battery life.
