Macross Anime Franchise Plans 40th Anniversary Event Early This Summer
The official website for the long-running Macross anime franchise has announced that its 40th anniversary event, entitled “Macross Super Dimension Festival The 40th Anniversary! Deculture!!” is planned to be held early this summer.

The first TV series Super Dimension Fortress Macross started airing in Japan in October 1982, then followed by various sequels set in the same world (sometimes parallel). Below are the main series:
- Movie “Macross: Do You Remember Love?” (1984)
- OVA series “Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II: Lovers Again” (1992)
- OVA series “Macross Plus” (1994-1995)
- TV series “Macross 7” (1995)
- OVA series “Macross Zero” (2002-2004)
- TV series “Macross Frontier” (2008)
- TV series “Macross Delta” (2016)
The event’s official website writes, “The galaxy’s first hands-on event to enjoy the worldview of the Macross series will be held! There will be a variety of attractions, mini-games, collaboration food and more!” It is scheduled to be held first at Bandai Namco Cross Store in Ikebukuro, Tokyo in the early summer of 2023, then in Osaka and Fukuoka. Further details will be announced soon!
