Japanese-Dubbed Re:STARS Anime Feature Film Hits Theaters This Summer

 

 

Bushiroad Move, a group company of Bushiroad, has unveiled a teaser visual, a teaser PV, and two main cast members for the forthcoming theatrical film Re:STARS ~Mirai he Tsunagu Futatsu no Kiraboshi (Two shining stars to connect to the future)~.

 

Re:STARS is an animated TV series based on 今天开始做明星 (Jintian Kaishi Zuo Mingxing / Start to be a star today), which has been available on Chinese manga distribution app iQIYI since 2015. The work has been viewed more than 5.2 billion times on iQIYI, then was adapted into an anime in mainland China in 2019. Its re-edited version with original Chinese voices and Japanese subtitles has been aired in Japan since April 2.

 

The Japanese-dubbed film edition features two Japanese main cast – Suzuko Mimori (Umi Sonoda in Love Live!) as Karina Hoshizora and Rinu (Strawberry Prince member) as Eita Hoshizora. The film is set to be released in Japanese theaters this summer.

Eita Hoshizora, an 18-year-old male college student, has exceptional musical talent and singing voice, but a certain incident prevents him from singing in front of others. One day, his twin sister, Karina Hoshizora, a top idol, asks him to stand on stage in her place…? Unable to refuse her selfish sister’s request, Eita pretends to be her sister, but this upsets her sponsors and she finds herself in a situation that threatens to dry her out of the entertainment business! Eita struggles to regain her position as a top idol in the special world of show business, but… In this coming-of-age idol comedy, a sister and brother switch places and live as idols!
