Sakamoto started her solo concert tour, “Sakamoto Maaya LIVE TOUR 2023 ‘Kioku no Toshokan,'” in Saitama on June 2. After performing in Aichi on June 4 and in Osaka on June 17, she canceled the second day of her scheduled show in Osaka due to her throat condition.

Sakamoto’s statement follows:

I’m sorry to have worried you. Thank you to everyone who has sent me warm messages. Upon my return to Tokyo, my family doctor again diagnosed me with vocal cord inflammation. My voice is hoarse, but my body is in very good health, thankfully. Now I am trying to recover, imagining that I will be able to enjoy the next weekend with my audience. I had been taking extra care of myself because I was in the middle of a tour, but I am very sorry for the inconvenience to those who have tickets for the second day of Osaka. If I am able to hold this concert on a different day, I hope to make up for this by singing with all my heart and soul.

Her next shows in the current tour are scheduled for June 24 and 25 at Tokyo Garden Theater in Tokyo, and at the time of reporting they will be held as scheduled. No decision has been made yet regarding a replacement for the postponed second day of the Osaka show.
