Kaiju No. 8 TV Anime Adds Reno Ichikawa Character Design to Roster

 

Every hero needs a confidant—and Reno is that and more!

 

Reno Ichikawa is the latest Kaiju No. 8 character to have his design for the upcoming TV anime revealed. Like protagonist Kafka Hibino, Reno is a member of the clean-up crew who aims to move up in the ranks. Acting simultaneously as Kafka’s cheerleader, friendly rival and confidant, he’s a major player in the story.

Production I.G provides animation production for Kaiju No. 8, while Studio Khara provides monster designs and artworks. Additional details about the series, such as other key staff and the main cast, have not yet been revealed. Kaiju No. 8 will broadcast in Japan in 2024.

 

The original Kaiju No. 8 manga is serialized in Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ digital manga magazine, and an English language version is also available from VIZ Media, who describe the story of the first volume as follows:

 

Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There’s just one problem—he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
