The Comic Market Preparatory Committee revealed the relaxation of entry guidelines for Comiket 102 this summer that were put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic over the last few events. Because of this, the committee announced that an “unlimited” number of attendees can visit each day, as long as the number doesn’t exceed the capacity limit of Tokyo Big Sight. Comiket 97 in December 2019 saw nearly 200,000 people per day.

Though the entry limits are being relaxed, tickets will still be needed to attend the event. Unlike the past few events, Comiket has simplified the ticketing system to three different general admission types: Early Admission, which enters at 10:30 AM, Morning Admission, which starts at 11 AM and Afternoon Admission, which starts at 1:30 PM. All tickets will be available via lottery starting in late June.

A fourth ticket, the Locker Room Advance Admission ticket, will also be available for cosplayers to enter the venue at 9:30 AM to prepare for the day. Tickets will only be sold per day with prices not yet announced.

In terms of other COVID-19 guidelines, Comiket will not be forcing people to wear a mask or be checking vaccination records, saying “wearing a mask is a personal decision.” Despite reports, Comiket has repeatedly confirmed that there has been no COVID-19 spread at the event itself, only at auxiliary gatherings.

Comiket 102 is scheduled to be held at Tokyo Big Sight on August 12 and 13 with more than 100,000 expected to attend each day.
