Aniplex Acquires Japanese ‘Kingdom’ Studio for Live-Action Works

Alice in Borderland

Aniplex’s parent company, Sony Music Entertainment, announced today that the entertainment company had acquired all the shares of Japanese live-action production house Origamix Partners. Aniplex will be making the production house a subsidiary on June 1, changing its name from Origamix to Myriagon Studios.

Myraigon Studios

Origamix is best known as the production house behind the Kingdom live-action films as well as the Alice in Borderland live-action Netflix series. The award-winning director of those two works, Shinsuke Sato, will continue to be affiliated with Myriagon Studios throughout the changeover. Myriagon will also continue the work Origamix was doing with IP management and as an agency for creatives.

As part of its core ideal to bring Asian-produced content to the world, Myriagon has signed a deal with South Korean content studio IMAGINUS, which was formed in 2021 by the previous CEO of South Korean studio Studio Dragon, Jinnie Choi. Choi will also be joining the board of Myriagon as an Executive Advisor and bringing the two companies together to make “premium Asian content for the global market.”
