School life is bursting with strange and whimsical situations in a new “concept preview video” that has been published for Horimiya -piece-, an upcoming TV anime that adapts previously unadapted chapters from the popular everyday comedy manga, Horimiya. Dubbed the “Shuwa-kyun ver.”, the video (below) features characters and scenes that define the feel of the series.

The original Horimiya manga is written by Hero, illustrated by Daisuke Hagiwara, and was serialized in Japan from 2011 – 2021 by Square Enix in their Monthly G Fantasy shonen manga magazine. An English language version of the manga is also available from Yen Press.

Similar to the previous TV anime series, Horimiya -piece- is directed by Masashi Ishihama and features animation production by CloverWorks. The series will broadcast in Japan beginning in July of 2023. Crunchyroll describes the story of Horimiya as follows:

A secret life is the one thing they have in common. At school, Hori is a prim and perfect social butterfly, but the truth is she’s a brash homebody. Meanwhile, under a gloomy facade, Miyamura hides a gentle heart, along with piercings and tattoos. In a chance meeting, they both reveal a side they’ve never shown. Could this blossom into something new?
