Voice Actor Kaito Ishikawa Takes One-Month Break Due to Vocal Cord Polyp Surgery

 

Voice actor agency Stay Luck announced today that Kaito Ishikawa, best known as Tobio Kageyama in Haikyu!! and Tenya Iida in My Hero Academia, will underwent surgery for vocal cord polyps in late May, and will take about a month off after the surgery. 

 

In the statement the agency writes: “The symptoms of polyps had been worsening since last year, and we had been monitoring the situation. After consulting with the doctor, we have decided to have the surgery. As for when he will be able to return to work, we will report on our website again as the timing may change depending on the progress of his recovery.”

 

As for the currently announced events, he will appear as scheduled. In the ongoing spring 2023 season, he has been playing Lance Crown in MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLES. As of this writting, the anime’s official website and Twitter have released no comments.

 

Ishikawa himself wrote on his official Twitter: 

 

As announced, I will be taking a break from late May due to vocal cord polyp surgery. I am very sorry for the concern and inconvenience this may cause to everyone concerned and to all of my supporters. The rest will start in late May, and I will be active until then! I will heal well so that I can perform more acting!
