Today’s Sound! Euphonium Anime Event Canceled Due to Typhoon
Today was supposed to be the seventh Sound! Euphonium anime event held in Uji City, the setting for the Kyoto Animation-produced franchise, but due to the second typhoon of the season currently making its way up the side of Japan, the event has been canceled.

The official website for Sound! Euphonium released a post yesterday stating that the organizing committee was looking into whether or not it was possible to hold the event with the final decision coming down today – the day of the event. The main issue was the lack of public transport to the event from across Japan. Last night due to heavy rain and a typhoon, trains shut down across Japan, including local lines out of Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto, as well as the Tokaido Shinkansen route, the main route from Tokyo to Kyoto to then get to Uji. Planes were also grounded due to the heavy rain.
This is why this morning, the organizing committee announced the cancelation of both of the events, the afternoon event which was scheduled to start at 2 PM and the evening event, which was previously scheduled for 5 PM. Refunds will be given out through the Pony Canyon ticketing website.

The Tokaido Shinkansen resumed service at midday Japan time from Tokyo to Osaka, but delays are still occurring across the lines due to the number of people who were stuck on either side throughout the night and in the morning.
