Based on the Chinese webnovel Quanzhi Gaoshou, the first season of The King’s Avatar donghua was directed by Xiong Ke (Mo Dao Zu Shi) at studio B.CMAY PICTURES and produced by Tencent for release from April 2017, followed by a three-part sequel in 2018, a second season in 2020 and an upcoming third by different staff. The series has also been adapted into a live-action drama that ran for two seasons and currently streams on Netflix worldwide.

Webnovel Comics, which digitally publishes the manhua adaptation’s official English version, describes the series as such:

In the online game Glory, he is known as the best of the best. For various reasons, however, he is expelled from his team. No longer a part of the professional league, he finds a simple job at an internet cafe.

But with ten years of experience under his belt, he dives back into the game when Glory opens its tenth server. Holding on to his memories of the past—and with an unfinished custom weapon in hand—he sets out on a journey back to the very top.
