Skeleton Knight in Another World Anime Studio Reports Loss of 381 Million Yen

A few days ago the Official Government Gazette made the financial results public for anime production house Studio KAI’s fiscal year ending in December 2022. According to the report, Studio KAI lost millions of yen last year, and those losses have been growing on a year over year basis. 

Known for works like Skeleton Knight in Another World, Umamusume Pretty Derby season 3, Super Cub and FUUTO PI, Studio KAI is a subsidiary of ADK Emotions. Its losses in 2022 added up to 380 million yen (about US$2.82 million), which follows a loss of 104 million yen in 2021. As a result, KAI’s income stands at negative 1.05 billion yen (US$7.79 million) and the studio is 1.37 billion yen (US$10.17 million) in debt. 

With 53 employees currently, Studio KAI has just 341 million yen (US$2.53 million) in assets. This includes 315 million yen in liquid assets and 26 million yen in fixed assets.
