Sasaki and Miyano VA Yusuke Shirai Stars in Barley Tea Commercial Created by ChatGPT
A new TV commercial for Japanese beverage company Suntory’s barley tea brand “GREEN DAKARA Yasashii Mugicha” starring voice actor Yusuke Shirai (Shumei Sasaki in Sasaki and Miyano, Combat Agent 6 in Combatants Will Be Dispatched!) aired on Japanese TV today, as well as released on Suntory’s Youtube channel.
According to Suntory press release, Shirai’s appearance was recommended by the “AI Director,” which was newly created using ChatGPT, a language processing tool. Based on the recommendation from the “AI Director,” the company developed a TV commercial proposal featuring Shirai along with the following proposals:
- Yusuke Shirai walks in from a distance with socks on his hand
- Suddenly becoming a ballet dancer and spinning at high speed
- Standing on his head with all his might with a message, “Time Travel Pasta Spaghetti Comes Out”
- Sipping a cup of gentle barley tea while surrounded by dancing bowling pins
- Satisfied with a projector showing animated Santa Clauses
- Suddenly kiwi is falling
- Shirai says: “Let’s eat the surprise kiwi together!”
- Going on a trip on a spinning doughnut
- Shirai says: “Elephant dance party, reaching an extreme!”
- Dancing in the wilderness
- Barley tea heaven; Split jump on the lid
- Leading people toward the gentle barley tea
- The message “Germinated barley has been added to Yasashii Mugicha.”
Suntory commented in the release, “The unexpected developments happened one after the other, and it was too new. It’s a commercial that humans couldn’t have come up with.”
Shirai wrote on Twitter: “ChatGPT, which is a hot topic right now, came up with these ideas for me. I expressed with my whole body that the gentle barley tea contains germinated barley. I hope you all enjoy the drink!”
