My Hero Ultra Rumble Battle Royale Game Sets Open Beta Dates

My Hero Ultra Rumble

Originally unveiled for Japan back in January 2022, the new free-to-play My Hero Academia battle royale game is on the way to the west as My Hero Ultra Rumble. Bandai Namco Entertainment updated those plans with the announcement of open beta dates for the game, which fans will get to take for a test drive on PlayStation 4 (compatible with PlayStation 5) from May 25 to June 1.

New gameplay systems will be introduced in the open beta—which is available to pre-load now—including the Plus Ultra system that lets players exceed the limit of a character’s Quirk once the Plus Ultra gauge is maxed out. There’s also the Revival system that gives players a chance to revive allies by collecting items they dropped along with special cards scattered throughout the field. All 12 characters from the closed beta will be playable along with Tenya Iida, Kaminari Denki and Itsuka Kendo.

You can see a sample of all the above in the new open beta trailer:

My Hero Ultra Rumble is a 24-player battle royale that Bandai Namco describes like so:

In MY HERO ULTRA RUMBLE, players will join one of eight three-player teams, giving fans the chance to build dream teams of Heroes or Villains like never before, and battle across an expansive city map. By controlling classic MY HERO characters, fans can make the most of their Quirks to attack enemies and cooperate with their team to survive fights. Players can also contribute to their team’s victory by rescuing or intimidating civilians on the field to obtain powerful items that can determine the outcome of the battle.
