Sakaomi Yuzaki’s She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat Manga Launches Charity Project for Same-Sex Marriage

Today on the release day of the latest third tankobon volume of Sakaomi Yuzaki’s cooking-themed romance manga She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat, KADOKAWA announced the launch of a charity project featuring the manga to promote legalization of same-sex marriage in Japan.

The title of the project is #物語のままで終わらせない (We don’t end up just as a story). In this project, original charity goods of She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat will be sold, and the amount of sales minus the production cost and other expenses will be donated to the public interest incorporated association Marriage For All Japan.

In addition, to commemorate the launch, a full-page ad was placed in today’s morning edition of the Asahi Shimbun newspaper.

The manga has been serialized on KADOKAWA’s web manga site Comic Walker and several digital platforms since January 2021 and has printed 350,000 copies in Japan. Under the title She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat, its English edition is licensed by Yen Press. Its story focuses on the love between two lesbian-identified women and depicts the difficulties and discomfort surrounding women in everyday life, centering on the solidarity of “food.”

Message from the author:

I have always wondered why same-sec marriage has not been legalized in this country where there are so many GL/BL works and representations of homosexuality.

While they are freely depicted in fiction, the rights of sexual minorities are restricted in reality. I want people who enjoy stories to be aware of such a situation. I wanted to do what I could as a person who depicts homosexuality, so I planned this “She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat” charity project.

It can be with someone you love or by yourself. We want a society where everyone can choose the future they want. Why don’t you join us in taking the first step toward realizing this goal?

Three types of charity goods will be available for order on KADOKAWA’s official online store from November 15, 2022 to December 16, 2022 at 23:59 (JST).
