Nelvana Partners With Polygon Pictures for Development of New Anime

Canadian media production company Nelvana has announced in a new press release that it has formed a partnership with Japanese animation studio Polygon Pictures to develop new anime series specifically aimed at children. Colin Bohm, EVP Content and Corporate Strategy, Corus Entertainment, has this to say on the new partnership:

“Nelvana has enjoyed tremendous success over the years working with several notable Japanese content companies on such brands as Bakugan, Beyblade, and Cardcaptor Sakura, and we are excited to team up with Polygon Pictures to uncover the next big global hit. We’ve long admired Polygon Pictures, a truly innovative and creative studio, and we couldn’t be happier to be working together.”

In addition, a new hire for this venture has been announced in industry veteran Rika Sasaki, formerly of d-rights Inc., ADK Emotion and Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, a specialist in the export of children’s anime to international markets. More information on the first title developed under the new partnership will be revealed in the future.

One of the most recent works from Polygon Pictures, Kaina of the Great Snow Sea, is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll, which describes the series like so:

Humanity’s remnants struggle to survive above the planet atop giant orbital spire trees, safe from the danger below. Rendered unlivable, the Great Snow Sea has turned the world into a no man’s land. While out hunting, young Kaina stumbles upon an unconscious girl who’s floated up from the surface. The discovery of this trespasser brings new hope for mankind’s future—and unimaginable danger!
