Negima! Manga Creator and Politician Ken Akamatsu Posts 20th Anniversary Art
There are few manga that encapsulates the 2000s than Ken Akamatsu’s Negima! Magister Negi Magi, which yesterday celebrated its 20th anniversary since it started its serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine on February 26, 2003. Earlier today to commemorate the anniversary, the now-politician Akamatsu posted a brand new illustration over on his Twitter account.
#ネギま20周年 #描き下ろし pic.twitter.com/U49gUZm2gB

Akamatsu says in the above Tweet that the series was hard to draw to start off with due to the high amount of characters but is appreciative that it was a long, nine-year, series that was actively made into multiple anime projects, a game and drama CDs.

The Negima! Magister Negi Magi manga ran from February 26, 2003, to March 14, 2012, and was collected into 38 volumes. Its spin-off sequel series UQ Holder! began on August 28, 2013, and ran until February 9, 2022–when Akamatsu started to run for the House of Councillors in the National Diet of Japan, where he later won a spot.
