Manga Artist Inio Asano Pens Colossal Cover Art for Sachiko Aoyama’s New Single
Negoto founding member and alum Sachiko Aoyama is preparing to release “Hi no Tori,” her latest single. And accompanying the new release is gorgeous, surreal art by a familiar name in the world of manga.
Inio Asano is a celebrated manga artist with titles like Solanin, Goodnight Punpun, and Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction to his name. He’s also collaborated with Aoyama once before—providing art for her single “Harbor View,” which debuted in March of this year:

Aoyama describes “Hi no Tori” as an “alternative love song.” A demo version has existed since October 2019, when she parted ways with J-pop group Negoto and started her solo career. Asano’s cover art for the single is the juxtaposition of real and surreal we’ve come to expect from the artist, with a massive bird peering into an otherwise fairly normal scene.
“Hi no Tori” debuts June 7 via Apple Music and the iTunes Store.
