Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic Gets Second Stage Musical in June 2023

 

Shinobu Ohtaka‘s Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic will be casting its spell onstage again this summer!

 

Magi the Musical -Balbadd Rhapsody- will pick up where last year’s first musical left off, starting from the manga’s Balbadd Arc. Plans are in place for a series of summer performances, including an after-show talk segment with the cast.

 

Yugo Miyajima (a member of the seven-member Japanese-Korean dance vocal unit ORβIT) and Hiroki Ino (Tenya Iida in the My Hero Academia stage plays) will return as Aladdin and Alibaba, respectively. Nana Okada will also be returning as Morgiana.

Joining them will be new and returning cast members, including:

 

  • Kasim: Daisuke Hirose (returning)
  • Judal: Akito Teshima (returning)
  • Ja’far: Shogo Yamazaki (new)
  • Masrur: Masato Yoshihara (new)
  • Kougyoku Ren: Mayu Tanaka (new)
  • Ahbmad Saluja: Shinnosuke Machida (new)
  • Sahbmad Saluja: Naruhito Murai (new)
  • Sinbad: Yusuke Hirose (new)
  • Ugo: Toshiyuki Morikawa (voice) (returning)

Director Kotaro Yoshitani (Revolutionary Girl Utena and BANANA FISH musicals) and scriptwriter/lyricist Sayaka Asai (Touken Ranbu musicals) will once again be teaming up for the production.

 

A new trailer shows memorable moments from the first musical, as well as our first look at the cast in costume.

 

 

Magi the Musical -Balbadd Rhapsody- is scheduled to run June 11-15 at Tokyo’s Shinagawa Prince Hotel Stellar Ball, and June 24-25 at Osaka’s Morinomiya Piloti Hall.
