Live-Action One Piece Star Teaches Us How to Pronounce Luffy

Live-Action One Piece

It’s Luffy’s birthday today, hurray!

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has been kicking it since the manga debuted way back in 1997, giving fans plenty of opportunities to pronounce its many characters’ names in any number of weird ways. If we didn’t have decades of anime to go off of, who knows how we’d be pronouncing Luffy at this point, and thankfully the star of Netflix’s upcoming live-action One Piece series is here to set the record straight once and for all.

Is it pronounced like stuffy? Or like poofy? Why not let Monkey D. Luffy’s live-action actor, Iñaki Godoy, explain it to us and the rest of the show’s main cast members?

Ahead of the live-action One Piece series premiering this year on Netflix around the world with eight episodes, the One Piece TV anime continues to go strong, with over 1,000 episodes of the series streaming right here on Crunchyroll and new episodes coming out each week as they air in Japan.
