Hayao Miyazaki’s ‘How Do You Live’ Anime Film Reveals Poster, Premiere Date

Nearly ten years on from The Wind Rises and half that since the anime film’s announcement, we finally have a release date for Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli’s next masterpiece! Tentatively titled “How Do You Live” in English according to the studio’s official English account, “Kimitachi wa Dou Ikiru ka” is now set to premiere in Japan on July 14, 2023.

Not much else is known about the production at this point, except that animation work started in 2016 and the film’s story is based around, but not adapting, Yoshino Genzaburo’s 1937 novel “How Do You Live?”, which Miyazaki was deeply moved by as a young boy.
In fact, according to the managing director of film distributor Toho, Minami Ichikawa, not even he or the company knows exactly what the film entails, including the character pictured in the poster pictured above.
