G-MEN Live-Action Film’s Action-Packed Trailer Confirms Release Date of August 2023

 

 

Along with a teaser visual introducing its five main cast members, the official website for the forthcoming live-action film adaptation of Toshio Ozawa’s high school delinquent comedy manga G-MEN has posted a 30-second teaser trailer announcing its theatrical release date of August 25, 2023.

 

As reported back in August 2022, the film was originally planned to be released in the fall of 2022 but has been pushed back to the summer of 2023 due to adjustments to the production schedule caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The manga was serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion from 2014 to 2018. It was compiled in 15 tankobon volumes and has printed over 1.5 million copies in Japan. The story centers on Shota Kadomatsu, who transfers to Takehana Private Boys High School, which has four girls’ schools within two kilometers around it, in order to get a girlfriend. However, he is sorted into the unpopular “G” class, which is full of problem students. As he bonded with them, he struggles to get a girlfriend. 

 

Yuta Kishi, a 27-year-old memebr of Johnny & Associates’ male idol group King & Prince, is cast as the protagonist Shota Kadomatsu, alongside Ryo Ryusei as Takumi Sana, Yuma Yamoto as Shigeki Kimota, Shintaro Morimoto as Masahiro Umeda, and Rintaro as Ryuji Nagi. 

 

 

 

 

Toichiro Rutou (Urayasu Tekkin Kazoku, The Way of the Househusband live-action TV drama) is attached to direct on a screenplay by Masao Kato (Sinking of Japan) and Maruichiro Maruo (Moteki). Toei works on distribution.
