The team behind the Pompo the Cinéphile anime film is getting ready for more, with director Takayuki Hirao reuniting everyone for a new original anime film project. The new project at anime studio CLAP is currently codenamed “Wasted Chef” and marks Hirao’s first time directing a completely original work.

Details about the project itself are light, but the main staff has been revealed:

  • Director: Takayuki Hirao (Pompo the Cinéphile)
  • Character Designer: Shingo Adachi (designs for Sword Art Online, director of Lycoris Recoil)
  • Music: Kenta Matsukama (Pompo the Cinéphile, Kamen Rider Black Sun)
  • Animation Production: CLAP (Pompo the Cinéphile, The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes)

While we wait for more info on the new project, Takayuki Hirao will be in attendance at this year’s Anime Expo for a Q&A session and screening of Pompo the Cinéphile, which is also getting special screenings in Japan to mark the film’s second anniversary.
