The first film was released in Japan on July 9, 2021, and earned 4.38 billion yen (31 million USD) to become the highest-grossing Japanese live-action film of the year.

The story of the two-part sequels is based on the “Bloody Halloween” arc, which was told in the original manga’s fourth to eight volumes. The main heroine Hinata Tachibana is killed once again in front of Takemichi’s eyes by Tokyo Manji Gang, whose nature has become even more vicious. Takemichi goes back in time to investigate the “sad incident” that tore apart the six founding members of Tokyo Manji Gang, who are the key to saving Hinata.
