Crowdfunding Campaign for Dropkick on My Devil! Season 4 Raises 115 Million Yen, 387% of Its Goal
The official Twitter account for the Dropkick on My Devil! anime franchise reported today that the crowdfunding project for its fourth season has finally raised 115,964,266 yen (about 906,700 USD) from 3,348 supporters, around 387 percent of its initial goal of 30 million yen (234,600 USD). The total amount is the highest in the history of Japanese crowdfunding for anime production.
Based on Yukiwo’s comedy manga series, the TV anime series has aired for three seasons from 2018 to 2022. The new crowdfunding campaign ran for 44 days from November 30, 2022, to January 13, 2023, to raise funds to produce the fourth season of the anime series (tentatively titled Dropkick on My Devil! NEXT) and to hold the largest-ever real/online event “Jashin-chan Fes” on May 4, 2023. Each 30 million yen raised would allow for the production of one OVA (Original Video Animation) episode.
The result of this campaign has led to the decision to produce three OVA episodes and to hold the event. The OVA episodes will be released in Blu-ray. If further crowdfunding and the production committee’s sponsor sales efforts result in the production of 10 or more episodes, the fourth season will also be broadcast on TV.
The largest event in the series’ history, aiming for 1,000 visitors, “Jashin-cahn Fes” will be held at Sumida Sangyo Kaikan in Tokyo from 10:30 to 22:00 on May 4, 2023. More than 15 main voice actors will participate in the event, which will feature booth exhibits, numerous stage projects, and will conclude with a large stage performance “Monosugoi Sabato.”
