Bakemonogatari Mangaka Recalls First Meeting with NisiOisiN as Series Ends
Every good story must eventually come to an end, even ones full of seemingly endless twists and turns. After five years in serialization, the manga adaptation of NisiOisiN’s Bakemonogatari novels by author Ito Ogure (Oh!great) concluded in the 15th issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine that was released today in Japan.
Oh!great took to Twitter to reflect on his time with the series and his first meeting with the famed creator:
“The first time I met NisiOisiN… I’m not 100% sure, but I think it was a party hosted by Hirohiko Araki. I was doing Tenjo Tenge at the time, and I remember NisiOisiN doing an impression of Mataza. It’s been a long time since then and I still can’t believe we get to work together like this!
My version of Bakemonogatari has come to an end, but I’m sure the story will continue to develop and be shared among fans. Thank you and so long.”

Oh!great has been adapting the Bakemonogatari arc of the Monogatari novel series in Weekly Shonen Magazine since March 14, 2018, going on a few short breaks due to Oh! great’s poor health. The 21st volume will release on March 16, 2023, with the 22nd volume – the final one – set to be released on May 17.
Ikusamonogatari will be the first novel in the Monogatari series since the second volume of Shinomonogatari on August 19, 2021, which contained the “Final Episode: Nadeko Around” story.

Kadokawa releases the Bakemonogatari manga in English, with the 17th volume scheduled to be released on February 23. Crunchyroll streams the Monogatari TV anime series’ multiple seasons, describing the first TV anime, Bakemonogatari, as such:
