Afro Samurai Manga “Director’s Cut” Comes to North America in December

Wish you could still get your hands on a copy of Takashi Okazaki‘s intense manga Afro Samurai? Starting next month, you can… and if you’re in the UK, you can get it now!

 

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the anime series starring Samuel L. Jackson, Titan Comics’ manga imprint is re-releasing the manga in a special “Director’s Cut” edition. This new printing will feature a custom cover and a new foreword by Okazaki himself.

For fans of the original Afro Samurai manga and anime, this new “director’s cut” edition of the out-of-print cult classic book features a specially commissioned custom cover and a brand-new foreword by creator Takashi Okazaki.

 

In a feudal, futuristic Japan, samurai battle to become No.1 and rule the world, but when his father, who holds the coveted position, is challenged and killed, the young Afro Samurai vows vengeance. Relentlessly pursued by murderous assassins, will he stay alive long enough to keep his promise?

 
In the first of two volumes, we see the beginnings of young Afro’s quest, his battles with an array of assassins and warlords, that climaxes in the epic confrontation with the powerful Empty Seven Clan and a showdown with an old enemy…

There will also be a “foil edition” with a special variant cover (seen above) and foil logo. A limited number will be available—starting November 23, UK and EU buyers can grab their copy through Forbidden Planet, and North American buyers can check their local comic book stores starting December 20.
