Japanese Fans Name Lycoris Recoil as the Top TV Anime of 2022

Lycoris Recoil

2022 was a huge year for anime with smash hits like Chainsaw Man and Attack on Titan as well as sleeper shows like BOCCHI THE ROCK! and Ya Boy Kongming! To cap off the year, the Japanese anime website AnimeAnime.jp revealed their results for the top TV anime of 2022 today as voted on by the readers of the website.

8,271 people were surveyed by the website, a greater amount than in previous years, with 55.2% being male and 42.5% being female. The poll skewed younger with 44.2% of those who responded under the age of 19, 11.7% from the 20 to 24 age range and 7.4% between 25 and 29 years old. The other 36.7% of people were 30 and over. The survey was conducted between December 1 and December 12.

BOCCHI THE ROCK!

Note that Crunchyroll did not have a say nor conduct this poll, we’re just as interested as to what Japanese fans think as you are. So here are the top 10 results:

  1. 10. Summer Time Rendering
  2. 9. My Dress-Up Darling
  3. 8. Mob Psycho 100 III
  4. 7. My Hero Academia Season 6
  5. 6. BLUELOCK
  6. 5. SPY x FAMILY
  7. 4. Chainsaw Man
  8. 3. Dropkick on My Devil!

The original Lycoris Recoil TV anime taking the top spot over SPY x FAMILY and even this season’s darling BOCCHI THE ROCK! is a surprise, but the Shingo Adachi-directed piece did have massive critical acclaim during its run with even video game sweetheart Hideo Kojima singing its praises

No matter though, I think we can all agree that 2022 was a great year for anime with 2023 looking to either match or surpass it!
