Acro Trip Magical Girl Comedy Manga Transforms into Anime Series

Acro Trip anime announcement

It’s time for some magical girl appreciation!

Yone Sawata‘s Acro Trip, serialized in Shueisha’s Ribon magazine, announced today that there’s an anime adaptation incoming. Sawata also released a celebratory image for the occasion, featuring protagonists Chizu, Chroma, and Berry Blossom:

While magical girls are present in Acro Trip, the main character is actually normal middle-school girl Chizuko Date—a Niigata-area otaku who’s a fan of real-life local magical girl Berry Blossom. But, thanks to the ineptitude of the heroine’s main foe, Chroma, no one really cares much about her battles anymore. Efforts to bring attention back to Berry Blossom lead Chizuko to be scouted for a position in Fossa Magna… the evil organization headed up by Chroma.

Sawata is excited to see the manga come to life onscreen. When asked what about the upcoming series would be most exciting to see, the artist responded “Everything!” before adding, “I’m especially looking forward to seeing the backgrounds drawn properly by human hands.”

The Acro Trip manga will be ending in early 2023, with the anime adaptation set to premiere sometime in 2024. In the meantime, a website for the anime has gone live.
