Utagoe ha Mille-Feuille Members Sing One Piece Film Red Theme for CrosSing Project
As the latest entry from the cover song project CrosSing, two members from Pony Canyon’s voice actor unit Utagoe ha Mille-Feuille — Yuko Natsuyoshi and Misato Matsuoka — sang “New Genesis,” the theme song for the 2022 anime film One Piece Film Red.
“New Genesis” was originally perfromed by Ado as the main character in the film, Uta, and has become one of the most successful songs in her career. Natsuyoshi and Matsuoka’s cover version was released digitally on June 14 and their recording movie is now streaming on the CrosSing project’s official YouTube channel. As a new music project featuring characters and young female voice actors based on the themes of “a cappella,” “high school girls,” and “complex,” the six-member unit Utagoe ha Mille-Feuille started their activities in April 2022 and have been showing their amazing a cappella performances on YouTube programs and at real events.

After the recording, the two posted a short message video on Twitter: “It was a very exciting song and took a lot of power to sing. We sang it so that the power of the song would be conveyed, so please listen to it!”

The CrosSing project launched in March 2022 to bring the “voices” of artists who are active in various genres, such as voice actors, anime song artists, virtual YouTubers, and 2.5D stage play actors, through songs. The number of its registered subscribers on YouTube has surpassed 188,000. Its ongoing fifth season’s artists also include: Nagisa Aoyama, Aina Aiba, Kaori Ishihara, Aguri Onishi, and Moeka Koizumi.
