THE FIRST SLAM DUNK

THE FIRST SLAM DUNK anime film nears the 10 billion yen milestone, a milestone only 42 other films have done in Japan, by reaching 43rd place on the Japanese all-time box office charts, singling that the Toei Animation-produced movie might be in its last quarter. The current box office results for the film were revealed today.

As of February 5, THE FIRST SLAM DUNK has made 9.95 billion yen (US$74.66 million) on the back of 6.82 million tickets sold. This brings the film up to 43rd place behind Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’s 10.02 billion yen box office takings. Slam Dunk is now also the 13th highest-grossing anime film of all time in Japan overtaking Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween and behind Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time.
