The Best In-game Halloween Events You Don’t Want To Miss

If the game doesn’t have a Halloween event, we don’t want it.

As far as we’re concerned, Halloween is the best holiday to celebrate in any game (and IRL). Costumes, pumpkin decorations, and candy; what more could you want? Now, go grab your favorite sweet treats because we’ve got a bewitching trio of games that are treating players to some fantastic Halloween events this year.

Ooblets, treabies, and Clickyclaws, oh my!

Move over Animal Crossing, Ooblets takes the (pumpkin) cake for everything we ever wanted in a sim game, especially when it comes to a free Halloween event. The self-proclaimed “pretty weird game” about farming, creature collection, and dancing, Ooblets has something for everyone and this year’s Halloween festival and patch is the perfect time to join the party.

Since the 2022 launch, this event adds way more costumes, furniture, and clothes, plus a revamped fall aesthetic. And if watching village folk dress up in costumes wasn’t fun enough, you will witness the game’s  dance-obsessed creatures, aka ooblets, also wearing hallo-themed accessories. Unlike other games that end the Halloween fun the day of, Ooblets has promised to continue the spooky vibes until Nov 15th, “but we might extend it a bit further.” Plus, there is an event-limited ooblet that only appears at night!

Your Ooblet dance battles will be a heck of a lot more spoopy thanks to this update, just be careful not to get a sugar rush from your trick-or-treabie loot.

Pumpkin Carver Simulator: No mess involved

While big titles offer exciting in-game events, don’t sleep on indie gems like Pumpkin Carver. This delightful, pixelated adventure lets you live out your wildest pumpkin-carving fantasies. As you create an army of jack-o’-lanterns, you’ll be immersed in the Halloween spirit.

Carve intricate designs, add candles, and even decorate your pumpkin with accessories. The best part? Your creations are shareable. It’s like a virtual pumpkin carving party with friends from around the world. You’ll be able to roam your friend’s online haunted pumpkin village as a ghost, which can also be customized.

Pumpkin Carver is all the fun of a real pumpkin carving gathering, but without the goopy mess. The creator made this downloadable game a “pay-what-you-want” title, so you and your pals can play online without worrying about large costs.

Pokéween: Gotta Catch ‘Em All – and Candy Too!

The Pokémon games have always celebrated Halloween with special events, and 2023 is no different. You’ll be treated to eerie ghost-type Pokémon mass outbreaks, and unique in-game items like Spooky Incense. This year, in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet you will have the chance to encounter Mismagius 5-star Tera Raid Battles. Not to mention Pokémon GO showing off Pikachu and Gengar in costumes and Pokémon Sleep featuring more ghost types and poké-costumes.

This Halloween, celebrate the best way we know how, with your favorite festive game and some sweet treats. If the game doesn’t have a Halloween event, maybe it’s time to find one that does!
