The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten Anime Announces January Debut, Opening Theme

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten

Earlier this year, we got news that Saekisan‘s light novel The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten would be getting an anime adaptation. Today, it’s heroine Mahiru Shiina’s birthday, and we’re getting the gifts… including a confirmed premiere date!

First, though, we’ve got a gorgeous piece of art to celebrate Mahiru’s big day:

We also have news about the show’s opening theme. Masayoshi Ooishi, who has composed themes for series including Overlord and SSSS.GRIDMAN, has written the song “Gift” for the upcoming series. Ooishi notes that he read the light novels to acquaint himself with the series, and became a fan—both of the series as a whole and Mahiru in particular—along the way.

Fans eager to see the series early will have their chance at a Christmas Eve screening at select cinemas in Japan on December 24. Moviegoers will get to watch the first three episodes.

Kenichi Imaizumi (After School Dice Club) is in the director’s chair for The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, with Keiichiro Ochi (The Quintessential Quintuplets) writing the series composition at Project No.9. The original novels were picked up by GA Bunko and released as a light novel with six (plus an extra volume) light novels being released in Japan. Three of them have been released in English by Yen Press, which describes the series as such:

Mahiru is a beautiful girl whose classmates all call her an “angel.” Not only is she a star athlete with perfect grades—she’s also drop-dead gorgeous. Amane‚ an average guy and self-admitted slob‚ has never thought much of the divine beauty‚ despite attending the same school. Everything changes, however‚ when he happens to see Mahiru sitting alone in a park during a rainstorm. Thus begins the strange relationship between this incredibly unlikely pair!

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten premieres January 7, 2023 on TOKYO MX and other channels.
