SUNSOFT’s Ikki Unite Brings Multiplayer Madness to PC on February 15

Ikki Unite

What do you do when you’re trying to resurrect a nearly 40-year-old game that helped coin the term kusoge, or “crap game”? You turn it into a 16-player rougelike action game, which is exactly what SUNSOFT has done with 1985 Famicom game Ikki. Its return as Ikki Unite was announced back in August, and now it has its PC release lined up for February 15.

Check out a new trailer while we wait for this one to arrive:

Here’s how the Steam page describes it:

“You can’t riot with just one or two people!”
The legendary “bad game” that once had people scoffing is back, and this time it’s time to unite!

It’s the autumn harvest, a time to rejoice in the fruits of labor, but a swarm of locusts ravage the land!
The village is in trouble, and yet the collectors still demand taxes…
So let’s start a rebellion and get our rice back, and protect our village!
This time we aren’t alone! It’s time to “Ikki Unite” with up to 16 people!

It’s the MOST CASUAL of ONLINE COOP games with simple controls and satisfying gameplay!
Cooperate and dodge bullets to defeat the enemies, and collect items.
Head towards the Daikan Yashiki!

This is roguelike action…but united!

SUNSOFT announced Ikki Unite along with other games in its revival lineup, including NES platformers Gimmick! and Ufouria. 1992’s Gimmick is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam this winter, and 1991’s Ufouria: The Saga, AKA Hebereke, is coming to consoles in 2023.
