Otona Najimi Live-action Film Drops Full Trailer featuring Theme Song by Kis-My-Ft2
The official website for the forthcoming live-action film adaptation of Aya Nakahara‘s (Love Com, aka Lovely Complex) romantic comedy manga Otona Najimi has posted a 60-second full trailer.
The clip features the theme song “Sweet Melody” sung by Johnny & Associates’ seven-member boy idol group Kis-My-Ft2 for the first time. The members say, “We are very honored to participate in this film as the theme song performers. A long term relationship that has seen both good times and bad times, and has shown each other both its strengths and weaknesses. The key to this song is the light, mid-tempo music that expresses the feelings of cherishing such an irreplaceable relationship. Although our contribution might not be worth much, we hope it can be of some help to this film. Please enjoy the film with ‘Sweet Melody’!”

Hiroto Takahashi, who worked on a live-action film adaptation of Risa Konno’s Mune ga Naru no wa Kimi no Sei shoujo manga in 2021, serves as director on a screenplay by Erika Yoshida (BOCCHI THE ROCK! series composition writer). Fashion model/actress Rinka Kumada is cast as the main heroine Kaede Kagaya, while Mizuki Inoue (Johnny&Associates’ boy idol group HiHi Jets member) plays her love interest Haru Aoyama. The film is set to be released in Japan on May 12, 2023.

The original manga was serialized in Shueisha’s monthly josei manga magazine Cocohana from 2019 to 2021, then compiled in eight tankobon volumes. The publisher describes its synopsis as below:
Kaede Kagaya and Haru Aoyama have lived next door and have known each other since childhood. They started living alone, but due to various reasons, they are now living next to each other again. Kaede has always liked Haru, but nothing has happened. In order to give up her feeling toward Haru, Kaede starts dating the manager of a bento store, but to her surprise, he is a married man! She is pushed into a corner, but Haru helped her out and she avoids getting bogged down. Haru also helps her deal with the large amount of Chinese cabbage he ordered by mistake… Haru is currently unemployed after a fight with his boss over a co-worker’s sexual harassment. Kaede loves him even in that situation, but where is her one-sided love going…?
