Oshiri Tantei Cosmic Front Revealed as NHK Crossover Anime Project

Get your butt to space!

Public broadcaster NHK is crossing over two of its most popular series—children’s mystery Oshiri Tantei and science documentary Cosmic Front—for a series of animated specials teaching kids about cool new advances in the world of science.

Popular children’s character Oshiri Tantei (literally “Butt Detective”) will be teaming up with new characters in the two specials, titled Cosmic Solution! Lost and Found and Cosmic Solution! The Great Thief of the Universe. Along the way, kids will learn fun facts about advances in archaeology and space travel. The cheeky detective will be joined by Mick (CV Fairouz Ai) for both adventures:

Plans are also afoot for the crossover to be developed into a live mascot show, set to debut at next month’s Super Experience NHK Festival. Attendees will also be the first to see the anime special’s first installment.

Oshiri Tantei Cosmic Front is the latest crossover between a popular kids’ anime and the science show. Back in 2016, long-running series Nintama Rantarou also did a crossover special, in which the series’s ninja kids learned more about space.

The specials will air on March 18 and March 25 respectively on NHK E-tele.
