A TV anime adaptation of Sawayoshi Azuma’s fantasy comedy manga Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru, also known as Stupid Angel Dances with The Devil, is now in the works. The news was revealed in the latest June 2023 issue of KADOKAWA’s Dengeki Maoh magazine, in which the manga has been serialized since 2016.

The anime’s official website and Twitter also opened today, with the manga author’s commemorative illustration.

The author has also announced the new on his official Twitter account, saying “Thanks to all of you who support Kanaten, its anime adaptation has been decided!! Thank you so much! I’m so happy!”

The story centers on Masatora Akutsu, a demon who descends to the human world in search of “idols” to motivate the corrupt demons and to boost their morale. He quickly finds a potential idol, Lily Amane, and recruits her. However, Lily turns out to be an angel, the natural enemy of Akutsu and the other demons! While Akutsu tries to corrupt Lily to protect himself and his clan, Lily decides to rehabilitate Akutsu for her own hidden ambitions.

In the voice comic posted on YouTube in November 2021, Masatora Akutsu and Lily Amane were played by Taku Yashiro (Tsubasa Kashiwagi in The iDOLM@STER SideM) and Kaede Hondo (Sakura Minamoto in ZOMBIE LAND SAGA), respectively.

The manga’s latest 15th volume will be available in Japan tomorrow, April 27.
