Michael B. Jordan Channeled Anime to Put His Spin on Creed III Fights

Creed III is on the way to cinemas on March 3, so director and star Michael B. Jordan has been making the promotional rounds. One of the latest stops was IGN Fan Fest, during which he took a moment to talk about the many anime influences that have fueled the third entry of the Rocky spinoff series.

While speaking with IGN, Jordan talked about how he went about putting his own spin on the fights in Creed III, which involved dropping some key anime names, including Hajime no Ippo, MEGALOBOX, Naruto and My Hero Academia. Breaking it down further, he even mentioned a very specific punch from Dragon Ball Z that made its way into the movie.

Anyone who has been following Michael B. Jordan to any degree knows his love for anime is well documented. It’s great to see him put it to use in his latest film, and we can’t wait to check out the results for ourselves.
