Magical Angel Creamy Mami TV Anime Gets Celebratory 40th Anniversary Magic Compact

40 years ago, Magical Angel Creamy Mami cast its spell over magical girl anime. Launched as a vehicle for rising star Takako Ohta, who debuted her new singles in-show as the magical idol, it laid the groundwork for everything from media mix projects to the VTuber craze. It also launched an early run of formative magical girl anime from Pierrot.

To celebrate this influential (and fun) magical girl series, Premium Bandai is selling reproductions of the the magical compact from the show. This bit of alien tech allowed Yuu Morisawa to transform into Creamy Mami… and wreak havoc of other kinds.

The “Special Memorize” Magic Compact is equipped with sound and light gimmicks mimicking the item from the show. Press the buttons to light up a panel of text from the alien world of Feather Star and play the show’s transformation chant and music. Pressing the central pink button will play “Delicate ni Sukishite”—the show’s opening theme, and Ohta’s debut single.

Also as seen in a show, a tiny version of Mami’s magical stick rests inside the top compartment.
