Japanese Rock Band sumika Guitarist Junnosuke Kuroda Passes Away at 34

 

 

Junnosuke Kuroda, guitarist of the four-member Japanese rock band sumika, passed away on February 23. The band’s official website announced yesterday. He was 34. The cause of death has not been disclosed, and his final message on his official Twitter was posted just one day before his death.

 

The site writes, “We would like to inform all of you who have always supported sumika. Junnosuke Kuroda, guitarist and chorus member of sumika, passed away on February 23. He was 34 years old. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the kindness shown to Junnosuke Kuroda during his lifetime and to offer our heartfelt condolences with all of you.”

 

The band was formed in May 2013 and Kuroda was one of its founding members. Among anime fans, they are known for their theme song works, such as “Fiction” (Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku opening theme) “Fanfare” & “Shunka Shuto” (I Want to Eat Your Pancreas theme songs), “Equal” (MIX 1st cour opening theme), “Higher Ground” (My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising theme song), “Shake & Shake” (Pretty Boy Detective Club opening theme) ,and “Glitter” (A Couple of Cuckoos 2nd cour opening theme).
