The first full trailer has arrived for GIRLS BAND CRY, an original anime in the works at Toei Animation. In addition to getting a good look at what’s in the works, the trailer unveils plans for an April 5 premiere in Japan.

GIRLS BAND CRY previously announced a general April 2024 premiere back in December. Check out the new preview while we wait for this one to hit screens.

The GIRLS BAND CRY anime is being directed by Kazuo Sakai (Love Live! Sunshine!!) with Jukki Hanada working on series composition, nari Teshima on character designs, Mari Kondo and Jae Hoon Jung as CGI directors and Kenji Tamai composing music for the Toei Animation production.

The cast includes talent like RINA, Yuri, Mirei, Natsu and Syuri. The in-series name of the band is Togenashi Togeari.

Here’s the official description of the anime:

The main character drops out of high school in her second year, and aims at entering a university while working alone in Tokyo. A girl is betrayed by her friends and doesn’t know what to do. Another girl is abandoned by her parents, and tries to survive in the city by doing part-time jobs. This world lets us down all the time. Nothing goes as planned. But we want something that we can continue to like. We believe there’s a place where we belong. That’s why we sing.
