Fuka Koshiba with Blond Hair Stars in Wave, Listen to Me! Live-action TV Drama This Spring
Fuka Koshiba (Kiki in the Kiki’s Delivery Service live-action film) is set to star in the live-action TV drama adaptation of Hiroaki Samura‘s (Blade of the Immortal) comedy manga, Wave, Listen to Me! The adaptation is set to premiere on TV Asahi Networks’ 24 stations across Japan in April 2023.
The magna has been serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon since July 2014 and has released nine tankobon volumes in Japan. Its English edition‘s punlisher, Kodansha USA describes its synopsis as below:
The stage is Sapporo, Hokkaido. One night, our heroine, Minare Koda, spills her heartbroken woes to a radio station worker she meets while out drinking one night. The next day, she hears a recording of her pitiful grumbling being played live over the air. Minare storms into the station in a rage, only to then be duped by the station director into doing an impromptu talk show explaining her harsh dialogue. With just one recording, the many eccentric facets of Minare’s life begin to pull every which direction as she falls ever deeper into the world of radio.
For the role of the protagonist, Minare Koda, Koshiba dyed her hair blonde for the first time in her life. She says, “Minare really makes a lot of mistakes. But when I see her making so many mistakes, I feel a little lighter and think, ‘Oh, it’s okay to make mistakes!’ So, I hope that this role will lighten the hearts of those who see me and think, ‘I don’t have to think so hard about it,’ no matter how clumsy you are or how many mistakes you make. I will do my best in the filming so that I can deliver both the powerful and the careless parts of Minare.”

The manga’s TV anime adaptation was aired for 12 episodes from April to June 2020. All episodes are available on Crunchyroll.
