Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine Becomes First Anime Film in Franchise to Pass 10 Billion Yen
After years of Detective Conan/Case Closed anime films coming close to the 10 billion yen milestone, over Golden Week the latest film in the franchise, Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine, finally became the first film in the franchise to do so just 24 days after it premiered on April 14 in Japan.
To commemorate the milestone, manga creator Gosho Aoyama drew a celebratory illustration of Conan announcing the cheer screenings that start later this month:

As of May 7, Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine has made 1,034,483,700 yen (US$87.56 million) on the back of 7.28 million tickets sold. This makes Black Iron Submarine the 12th highest-grossing anime film of all time in Japan as well as the 40th highest-grossing overall and the biggest Japanese box office in franchise history. It’s also the third fastest film in Japanese box office history to pass the 10 billion yen milestone, doing it a day earlier than Spirited Away and four days after One Piece Film Red.
